Let’s do it: (From left) Lay, Amran, Azura, and Tan of Team Celebrity, Zulkifli, Takasima head of business development Maria Chan, Sports Toto Fitness Centre club manager Jonathan Tan and Fan Team members Hidayat, Chan, Hazimah and Sri Devi The time has finally arrived! Four contenders will “roast” head-to-head with celebrities Megan Tan, Azura Zainal, Amran Ismail and Christopher Lay in the Roasters Health Watch 2013.
RHW 2013 is an eight-week health challenge which requires participants to challenge themselves towards a better lifestyle through a diet and exercise routine specially customised for them.
This year, RHW 2013 has a brand new theme — “Celebs vs Fans” — where fans will compete with their favourite celebrities in a showdown of their commitment to health.
The participants in the Fan team are Chan Mun Choy, Hidayat Masduki, Amran Ismail, Hazimah Md Sidik and Sri Devi Muniaya.
“At Kenny Rogers Roasters (KRR), we want everyone to be healthy. The main objective of Roasters Health Watch is to provide a platform to encourage everyone to make a healthy transformation in their life.
“Even if you are a celebrity and required to be in the limelight all the time or just an individual, you can make a change to be healthier as long as you put your mind to it,” said Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd marketing and communications manager Zulkifli Jafar.
Kenny Rogers Roasters will provide participants with meals at least three times a week.
A consultant dietician will tailor-make a diet programme based on each participant’s fitness level and requirements.
The diet will consist of a set of practical food intake recommendations for an average Malaysian while incorporating KRR meals into the plan.
The fitness routine, on the other hand, will be tailored by Sports Toto Fitness Centre. Participants are expected to attend a customised personal training programme at Sports Toto Fitness Centre once a week. They must also attend a minimum of two group exercise classes per week.
“I can’t wait to start on the diet and fitness routine. I will definitely ensure that I, together with my celebrity friends, win this competition. The Fan team will definitely be facing a group of ‘tough’ contenders,” said Tan.
The participants progress will be monitored very closely during the challenge.
Their success will be judged according to their discipline in following the programme, body mass index, body fat percentage and waist-to-hip ratio, in comparison to statistics at the start of the programme.
Any contestant caught cheating in their diet or training programme will “Head for the Roast”, which serves as a penalty. It involves additional exercises added into an individual’s programme.
Roasters Health Watch 2013 will end with a final event on July 3 where their progress will be assessed and participants will be put through a final mini-fitness challenge.
This year, participants stand a chance to win great prizes from Kenny Rogers Roasters, Sports Toto Fitness Centre, Brooks and Takasima worth more than RM31,000 in total.
