Domestic Trade Ministry seizes 5,000 litres of subsidised diesel in Semenyih


PUTRAJAYA: The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry confiscated 5,000 litres of diesel and equipment believed to be used for the purpose of misappropriating subsidised fuel in a raid at a premises in Semenyih, Selangor last Tuesday.

The ministry’s director-general Datuk Azman Adam said in a statement on Thursday (March 23), enforcement officers raided the premises at about 9.30 pm on the suspicion the premises was being used as a store and to siphon diesel.

"Diesel, motorised pumps, connecting pipes, several documents and other equipment that were found at the location were seized with the total value of the seizure estimated at RM13,250," he said.

He said the case was being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

Meanwhile, he said, in operations codenamed "Ops Tiris” conducted from last March 1 to 21 nationwide, a total of 2,582 inspections were carried out with 69 cases recorded, involving a total seizure value of RM1.27 million. - Bernama
