Permata to work with Qatar Education Foundation
Working hand in hand: Rosmah chatting with Sheikha Moza at the Qatar Foundation in Doha. — Bernama DOHA: Malaysia's Permata Negara will cooperate with the Qatar Education Foundation to develop an Asian early childhood education programme to ensure that everyone has access to good education.
Permata Negara patron Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, said Qatar had sought Malaysia's cooperation to realise its desire to provide the most extensive and highest education for children and teenagers, especially those who did not have access to the best possible education.
She said the intention was conveyed by Her Highness Sheikha Moza Nasser, consort of the Emir of Qatar and chairman of the Qatar Education Foundation, at a meeting on Tuesday.
“We discussed early childhood education, especially for children as young as three years old. We agreed to establish cooperation,” she said after paying a courtesy call on Sheikha Moza at the Qatar Education Foundation.
Rosmah said Sheikha Moza had said that Qatar had just established a programme for gifted children, similar to the Permata Pintar programme implemented by Permata Negara.
Rosmah said Sheikha Moza had invited her to deliver a keynote address on early childhood education and education for gifted and talented children at the World Innovation Summit for Education (Wise) to be held in Qatar next month.
“She invited me to deliver the keynote address because Malaysia is ahead (in terms of programmes on early childhood education and education for gifted children),” she said.
Rosmah said for a start, Malaysia had invited gifted children from Qatar to attend the Permata Pintar Camp in December. - Bernama
