KUALA LUMPUR: Keisha Somasundram, who is suffering from a life-threatening disease, not only had her dream of meeting record-breaking Irish boyband Westlife come true last night but also got their hugs and kisses too.

“Nicky (Byrne) even said he will score a goal at the football match for me,” said an excited Keisha after her once-in-a lifetime meeting with the band members at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

She and her mother Veena Petrus, 41, met the five-member band alone for five minutes before the group went on stage to practise for their soccer showcase extravaganza.

The ecstatic 13-year-old said her favourite band member Mark Feehily asked her how she was doing.

“I was speechless and I could not think of anything to say,” said the girl.

Keisha Somasundram, 13, who suffers from a rare disease, is speechless and overwhelmed with the attention from Irish boyband Westlife (from left) Nicky Byrne, Mark Feehily, Bryan McFadden, Shane Filan and Kian Egan, who are in Kuala Lumpur for a charity football match in aid of the National Cancer Council.
An equally excited Petrus said: “Keisha had been counting the days since she was informed of the meeting.”

The girl suffers from a rare condition called neuro fibro mytosis, which causes tumours to grow in various parts of her body and she has undergone numerous operations to remove them.

Her dream to meet the band came to light last Monday when Radio 4 deejays Jeeves and Double D got a call during their Labour Pains show from Keisha’s friend Raj who told them about Keisha’s request.

“We wanted to do something special for her,” Jeeves said.

Petrus, a salon owner, said she was very grateful to BMG, Radio 4 and the media for helping put a smile on her daughter’s face.

Keisha will attend tonight’s showcase with thousands of Westlife fans but last night, she was the only fan allowed to see them rehearse.

Earlier, the band was met by hundreds of screaming fans at Times Square, First World Hotel in Genting Highlands.
