Ning takes pole position as F1 ambassador for Malaysia
BY ZIEMANPETALING JAYA: Singer Ning Baizura has been appointed Formula One Ambassador for Malaysia.
“She will be on board starting today right up to March 23 to build up the excitement for the event,” said Sepang International Circuit senior manager (marketing communications) Shuhainie Shamsudin.
“Ning Baizura's appointment as the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix Formula One Ambassador will be announced at the F1 street party in Bangsar (tonight) to kick off celebrations to mark Kuala Lumpur as the Grand Prix City,” she said.

For the event, Formula One cars will be on show along with the “mean machines” from the support races, the Porsche Carrera Cup, Formula BMW and the Formula Malaysia Championship.
F1 fans can expect plenty of music and entertainment, fun and games and other activities tonight and stand to win Formula 1 tickets.
Shuhainie said Ning would be making appearances at major F1 events from now on.
“She will be making her presence on the race day and would be singing a few songs,” said Shuhainie.
A source revealed that Ning was given close to six-figures to close the deal.
The singer and her manager Vernon Kedit, however, could not be reached for comment.
Miss India 2001 Celina Jaitely, who is also the Miss Universe 2001 fourth runner-up, will also make her appearance at the race.
Jaitely, who will continue to serve as the Formula One Ambassador for Malaysia in India, will be an invited guest on race day, said Shuhainie.
The Round 2 of the 2003 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix will be held from 21st to 23rd March 2003.
