SMS spread by frustrated lot, says Syed Razak
ALOR STAR: Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Syed Razak Syed Zain has described those who started an SMS rumour about him being asked to resign as a “frustrated lot”.
He said he was not shaken by the rumour spreading via the SMS (short message service) which claimed that he had been asked to step down by the Prime Minister.
“Why should we be shaken by poison-pen mail? Anyone can write it,” Syed Razak told reporters after meeting Barisan Nasional state assemblymen at Wisma Darulaman here yesterday.
He said such mail should be ignored, adding that technology should be used for the good of mankind and development.
He was commenting on a newspaper report which stated that the SMS had been distributed all over the country.
Syed Razak, who is the state Barisan chief, said it was a sin to write poison-pen letters.
State Umno Youth chief Datuk Abdul Aziz Sheikh Fadzir urged the police to investigate the matter, adding that the wing would lodge a police report if necessary.
He claimed the SMS was spread to weaken the state leadership and Umno.
