Women bowlers take Egypt by storm
CAIRO: Malaysian women bowlers, led by defending champion Shalin Zulkilfi, were in awesome form in the Sinai International Open Bowling Championship when all four made the top eight of the Masters Finals on Thursday.
Shalin emerged as the leader after 12 games with 2,695 pinfalls. Wendy Chai came in second while Sarah Yap and Zandra Aziela occupied the third and fourth spot respectively.
The top eight women qualifiers will next play eight games in the first block of the Masters Final.
Unlike the women, 16 men qualified for the Masters Finals.
Defending champion Dino Castillo of United States is leading the men's event after the first block of eight games, played in a round robin format. He scored 1,869, including bonus points, to take the lead.
Malaysia's Azidi Ameran is a close second with his eight-game score of 1,839.
Azidi's teammate Ben Heng however, fared poorly and managed only 1,668 to end up in eighth spot.
