T-shirt with picture of singer gave thief away
BY R.S.N MURALIPORT DICKSON: It was the yellow coloured T-shirt with a picture of a popular singer that gave him away.
The snatch thief was nabbed three hours after he grabbed the handbag of a 40-year-old woman based on her description to police of the T-shirt he wore.
The 24-year-old suspect had gone back to his Taman Seri Bandar house after snatching the woman’s handbag in Jalan Seremban-Port Dickson at 8.45pm on July 7.
At that time, police were conducting a drug prevention operation.
The suspect was among 15 people rounded up and brought back to the police station for urine tests.
At the station, an investigation officer saw the suspect wearing the T-shirt and pulled him aside.
On further questioning, the suspect admitted to having committed the theft and several others in the district since early this year.
He also confessed to committing two break-ins at a shopping mall and a house here.
OCPD Supt Ahmad Ibrahim said the suspect led police to arrest two other men, including a 15-year-old school dropout.
“With the arrests we believe we have solved several snatch theft cases here.”
