News Update by AU YEONG HOW of The Star

PETALING JAYA: Police arrested three Fiji national rugby players who were involved in a fight after they allegedly tried to entice a woman celebrating her wedding anniversary with her husband.

It is learnt that the Fijians allegedly made advances to the 36-year-old woman who refused to entertain them during the incident happened at about 3am in a popular nightspot here.

Petaling Jaya Utara CID chief Superintendent Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said this led to the woman's husband scolding the trio.

"As a result, the suspects, who were believed to be intoxicated, attacked him. His two brothers then joined the brawl.

"The club management called the police and the three Fijians were arrested. Two of the brothers who were injured were sent to the hospital where they received outpatient treatment,'' he said.

Police obtained a three-day remand order against the Fijians Monday. The case has been classified as Causing Grievous hurt with Dangerous Weapon under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
