PAS spurns PKR’s offer
KOTA BARU: An offer by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) to merge with PAS has been shot down by PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat who prefers a coalition.
In a first official meeting between PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and Nik Abdul Aziz yesterday, Anwar said PKR had invited PAS to merge.
However, Nik Abdul Aziz said, “There is no need to dissolve PKR,” adding that history had proven that PAS could work with any party.
Cops seek key witness
JOHOR BARU: Police are looking for a key witness in a case involving a cellphone dealer found murdered at the Taman Sentosa residential area here in December last year.
The last known address of trader Ang Chen Lin @ Lau Tee, 23, was No. 18, Jalan Permas 7/7, Taman Permas Jaya here.
Police urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station.

PETALING JAYA: The Foreign Ministry shut down its operations room set up for enquiries on the tsunami disaster effective yesterday.
The public can get information about the disaster at 03-8887 4133 (Asia Tsunami Disaster Fund), 03-8887 4418 (overseas contribution for Malaysian victims), 03-8887 4530 (for information on the dead and missing) and 03-8887 4276 (foreign information department).
Report lodged over extortion
PETALING JAYA: After paying RM15 monthly as “protection money” for a year, a 13-year-old schoolgirl from Puchong finally turned to her parents for help.
With their support, the girl lodged a report at the Subang Jaya district police headquarters on Friday claiming that she had been forced to pay the said sum to three teenage boys who were not her schoolmates.
Eight held for racing illegally
KUALA LUMPUR: Eight motorcyclists, aged from 16 to 20, were arrested in the city for racing illegally on Friday night.
The Jalan Bandar traffic police conducted the operations at about 10pm after being tipped off that some 300 motorcyclists were racing near Maju Junction and Dataran Merdeka.
