KULAI: It was 9.30am. The roads leading to the field were jam-packed with people waiting for Felda Taib Andak’s favourite son.

By the time Mawi went on stage to perform at 11am, thousands had arrived for the Hari Raya open house that he hosted.

There were 20 tents spread over the field where food was served.

“This is beyond my expectation,” said Mawi, surprised at the large turnout of some 10,000 people.

Nordiana said she trusted Mawi completely and would be strong and patient with his newfound fame.

On his album entitled Mawi – Yang Tercinta, Mawi said: “This is going to be a killer album. It has eight great tracks and the songs are composed by four famous musicians – M. Nasir, Ajai, Fauzi Marzuki and Yassin.”

He said it was a fantastic opportunity to have worked with such talents, describing the experience as “valuable”.
