Why pull ears during squats?

I REFER to the letter, “Strict enforcement is for our benefit” (The Star, Dec 3).

While I can appreciate the points brought up by the writer, especially the one about strip-search being a procedure carried out by enforcement centres the world over, I still cannot see the justification for having a detainee pull her ears while doing the strip-squat.

Does pulling one's ears while squatting help eject objects hidden in the body's orifices?

MAN-IN-THE-STREET,

Penang.
