Nude woman in ear squat video identified

BY BERNARD SEE

PENANG: Police have identified the woman in the controversial video clip doing ear squats in the nude but do not want to divulge her nationality so as not to jeopardise investigations.

Bukit Aman Public Order and Internal Security director Comm Datuk Othman Talib said her identity would be released to the independent committee set up to investigate the matter.

“All our findings will be handed over to the committee as we are as anxious as everyone to know the eventual outcome of the inquiry,” he said yesterday.

Comm Othman said the findings of the inquiry would be used as a guide on how and when a body search should be conducted.

“Doing ear squats is not the general practice, but it is sometimes conducted depending on the case,” he said.

He added that criminals, especially drug traffickers, had been known to hide illicit narcotics in body cavities such as the rectum.

He was speaking to reporters after receiving keys to the new RM67.5mil northern region marine police base in Batu Uban from Internal Security Ministry assistant chief secretary (Development Unit) Hassan Saep.

Meanwhile, the police and Immigration Department started a blitz to round up an estimated 50,000 Chinese nationals who have reportedly gone missing in the country.

Comm Othman said all the state police chiefs had been directed to locate them.

“I would like to advise these foreigners to surrender themselves and not wait to be rounded up. They will be handed to the Immigration Department to be charged with overstaying.

“Those who hire these foreigners are to be charged with harbouring illegals under the Immigration Act, which carries a fine of up to RM10,000 for each illegal foreign worker employed, a minimum of six months' jail and also whipping,” he said.
