Senators disagree to selling of MAS building
KUALA LUMPUR: The Senators Club disagreed with the proposal by Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) Bhd to sell its building as a last resort to save the company.
Senator Datuk Kamarudin Ambok said the management must think of a better way to save the company. The firm could apply for a loan instead, he said.
“We suggested they sell off their paintings but they refused. Instead, they want to sell the building,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby yesterday, referring to the artwork adorning the company's premises.
He said the briefing given to the Senators Club on Tuesday was unsatisfactory because MAS made comparisons with airlines that were in the red.
MAS had also revealed that of its 79 routes to Europe and Latin America, only 33 made profits. Kamarudin, however, did not elaborate. – Bernama
