MAS lends ‘wings’ to show
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is lending its “wings” to the Force of Nature Concert for Tsunami Aid.
MAS chairman Datuk Dr Munir Majid said the airline has teamed up with the initiators of the concert, the Force of Nature Aid Foundation, to fly in artistes and their equipment.
“MAS is providing air transportation for many of the international artistes performing at the concert and we are also transporting most of their equipment from Los Angeles, Amsterdam, London and Newark (New York),” Dr Munir told reporters on Tuesday.
The concert is the first initiative of the non-profit organisation Force of Nature Aid Foundation that is committed to raising monetary aid for natural disaster victims.
Dr Munir, who is also on the Force of Nature Aid Foundation committee, said it was crucial to have funds ready in countering the human tragedy that followed natural disasters.
“Every time there is a natural disaster, it takes time to mobilise money for aid. “Sometimes it takes a week or two and because of this relief teams like Mercy Malaysia can’t arrive at the scene immediately as they lack the funds,” he said.
