Over 10,000 life insurance agents attend convention
GENTING HIGHLANDS: A chance to share experiences and recharge “batteries” was what attracted some 10,000 local and foreign delegates to attend the Eighth Asia-Pacific Life Insurance Congress (Aplic).
The three-day congress was organised by the National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance and Financial Advisers (Namlifa). Tourism Minister Datuk Dr Leo Michael Toyad launched the event here yesterday.
Organising chairman Phang Siang Yang said more than 10,000 life insurance agents from 19 countries including Hong Kong, India, Thailand, Indonesia, New Zealand and the United States attended the biennial event.
This is the second time Malaysia is playing host, the first being in 1983.
The congress, deemed as the largest and most important one in the region for life insurance and financial service practitioners, had also invited 39 guest speakers who would share on various industry-related topics.
Leslie Teoh from ING Insurance Bhd said the congress was a good avenue to refresh oneself.
“We'll be recharging our 'batteries' as well as acquiring skills from experienced speakers who have been in the industry for a long time,” he said when met at the first day of the convention.
Jenny Ngoh from Great Eastern Life Assurance Co Ltd in Singapore said she attended the event to get motivated and to encourage herself as an insurance life planner.
First time visitor G. Manikantan from Life Insurance Corporation of India said he was impressed with the settings of the congress and praised Malaysians for being friendly, enthusiastic and for greeting visitors with a smile.
