Charles refuses to meet Tigers leaders

Tamil Nesan and Malaysia Nanban reported that Prince Charles, who was visiting tsunami-hit areas in northern and eastern Sri Lanka, refused to meet leaders of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

The dailies reported that Prince Charles visited the areas to console the victims.

His staff who accompanied him said the prince was on a humanitarian trip and to witness aid work and was not there to meet politicians.

In another development, Tamil Nesan reported that the popular 51-year-old Tamil actress, Sri Vithya, had recently married a 27-year-old assistant director from Kerala.

The report said the wedding was held secretly at Sri Vithya's home in Chennai recently.

In another matter, Malaysia Nanban reported that the Sri Veerakathi Vinayagar Temple management in Rawang, Selangor, had refuted claims that the Hindu cemetery had been closed.

The daily quoted temple chairman M. Paramasivam as saying that the cemetery was being upgraded.
