Owner hands over two other dogs to police

PUTRAJAYA: The owner of the Rottweiler that is believed to have mauled nine-year-old Mohd Hazman Khan Seh Zaidi has handed over two other dogs to police.

Sepang OCPD Supt Zahidi Ayob said the owner came to the station at 11.30am yesterday morning.

“He came and gave us the dogs. We have taken a statement from him and we are still questioning him over the case,” he said, adding that the animals would be taken to the Veterinary Services Department in Shah Alam.

Supt Zahidi also said the police would be taking another statement from Mohd Hazman.

The case is being investigated under Section 289 of the Penal Code for negligence with respect to the animals. It carries a six-month imprisonment term or a fine up to RM2,000 or both, upon conviction.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that Mohd Hazman was readmitted to the Putrajaya Hospital at about noon yesterday for a further check-up.

The boy's father Seh Zaidi Seh Hashim said the hospital called in the morning and asked him to bring the child back to the hospital.
