Intimate details wanted for world’s largest sex survey
PETALING JAYA: The worlds largest sex survey is back and Malaysians too can join the hundreds of thousands of people worldwide in revealing their sexual attitudes and behaviour.
The 2005 Durex Global Sex Survey, which was launched on May 23, can be accessed at http://www.durex.com/ for up to 10 weeks.
It poses questions about sex education and the awareness of sexually transmitted infections (STI) apart from asking people about their sex lives and the use of contraception.
The survey, now into its ninth year, attracted over 350,000 respondents last year.
Among other things, it revealed that Malaysians received sex education at a ripe old age of 14.6 years while 35% of Malaysians admitted to having unprotected sex without knowing their partners sexual history.
Tim Evans, managing director of SSL Healthcare Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which markets Durex condoms, said: In the light of the rising number of STI cases, it is alarming to learn that Malaysians are taking such risks with their sexual health.
As such the importance of teaching safe sex is crucial, especially with young Malaysians having a more relaxed attitude towards their sexual lifestyles.
Evans said the survey gave a truly global and in-depth picture of sexual attitudes and had become one of the most reliable sources of sexual health information and sexual lifestyles.
Durex will donate RM1 to the Malaysian AIDS Foundation for every survey completed. The foundation is the fundraising arm of the Malaysian AIDS Council.
Those who respond to the survey could win a three-day, two-night weekend at Pangkor Laut Resort.
Durex will also donate one million condoms.
