HK group gives Global Malaysians Network a boost

HONG KONG: The Global Malaysians Network received a boost with the Malaysian Association in Hong Kong encouraging its 1,000-odd members to sign up as members.

Association chairman Chow Kok Kheong said he was very happy that such a network had been established.

“This will enable Malaysians overseas to connect with each other,” he said when signing in as a member of the network here recently.

MAKING CONNECTION: Chow checking out the Global Malaysians Network website in Hong Kong recently.
Chow said the network was relevant in view of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s call to Malaysians residing overseas to become promoters of Malaysian goods and services to boost exports.

“Because we do not have a chamber of commerce here in Hong Kong, the association has been playing that role in Hong Kong by helping link Malaysians at home with opportunities here,” he said.

He said there were many Malaysians who had become very prominent in Hong Kong.

Among them were Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission chairman Andrew Sheng and Kuok Brothers Sdn Bhd chairman Chye Kuok.

The Global Malaysians Network is an initiative by the Asian Centre for Media Studies and is supported by The Star.

It is aimed at enabling Malaysians to network and tap into the resources of their countrymen worldwide.

Malaysians, their family members, and expatriates who have worked or are currently working in the country can participate in the network.
