Rafidah’s brother defends daughter’s right to APs for Kleemann cars
BY M. KRISHNAMOORTHY
KUALA LUMPUR: Tajul Arus Aziz, brother of Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz, vented his anger on friends and relatives who had picked on him because his daughter Annie got 199 approved permits for importing Kleemann cars.
An angry Tajul hit out at critics who claimed that Annie got the APs because she was the niece of Rafidah.
“It’s unfair to accuse my daughter of such when she is capable of selling the imported cars as a businesswoman,” he told The Star in a telephone interview.

”I had to rough it out selling things in night markets after retiring as an EON maintenance technician.
“I am still driving around in an old Proton,” said Tajul who was a Royal Malaysian Navy staff for 13 years before joining EON.
“She is the only one in the family who is into the car business,” he said of his daughter.
In the first list that was released on July 18, Emeritus Equities Sdn Bhd got 199 APs to import Kleemann. For 2004, it was allocated 850 APs.
The other shareholder in the company is Annie’s husband Zulkifli Ishak.
The company, which has a franchise to import Kleemann cars since last year, operates under the name Kleemann Motorsports Sdn Bhd with its only showroom at Komplex Antarabangsa in Jalan Sultan Ismail here.
According to newspaper reports last month, the company’s chairman, Tan Sri Adzmi Wahab, said 10 completely built-up Kleemann-tuned cars would be brought into the country in the first month of operation with a first year sales target of 250 units.
A check at the showroom yesterday indicated that a fully imported CBU Kleemann CLK24 cost RM723,567.50 while a Kleemann S28 cost RM855,082.50.
Denmark-based Kleemann offers a wide range of performance tuning for Mercedes-Benz models such as the C, E, S, SLK, CLK, CLS, ML and G classes.
