Kadir: N-Day parade a tourism lure
PUTRAJAYA: Hotels and tour agencies have been urged to make a special effort to bring foreign tourists here to catch the National Day parade.
Information Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir said the parade would be the highlight of the celebrations and tourism industry players should take advantage of it to showcase Malaysia to visitors.
For instance, they can arrange for tourists to watch the parade as part of their itinerary or provide transport for their guests to come here, he said after watching the rehearsal for the 48th National Day parade at the Putrajaya Boulevard here yesterday.
This years parade, held at the federal administrative centre, some 40km from Kuala Lumpur, involves 32,825 people, making it the biggest to date.
Abdul Kadir said those planning to watch the parade should come early, adding that ample shuttle buses would be provided.
We are expecting some 300,000 people to attend the parade.
There is enough space for everyone along the 3.5km stretch of the boulevard, he said.
