Two men with fake RM1 coins held
KUANTAN: A gambler was caught with 360 suspected counterfeit RM1 coins as he walked into a casino in Genting Highlands on Monday.
The 34-year-old man was about to enter the Monte Carlo casino at 2.10pm when the metal detectors at the entrance went off.
Several policemen conducted a body search and found the coins on him.
Pahang commercial crime unit chief Supt Zaini Jass said the coins had been sent to Bank Negara to determine their authenticity.
In another case, policemen who were patrolling the car parks at the same resort detained a man after they found 1,500 pieces of RM1 coins in his car.
The coins, believed to be fakes, were stashed in several plastic bags under the front and rear seats of the vehicle.
Both suspects have been remanded.
