“Mysteria – Believe the Impossible,” the new show to be staged at First World Plaza's The Pavillion from Jan 28 to the end of September, was created to make the impossible come alive and this is all in a RM12mil production.

“It is the biggest production this stage has ever seen. We have never gone this crazy before,” said K.L. Ng, Resorts World Berhad promotions and entertainment vice president during the unveiling of “Mysteria” at The Pavillion recently.

He was referring to the magnitude of the production, from the stage design and backdrop, which had cost RM2mil, and to the 140 different costumes, all adorned with colourful motifs and crystals.

He said a total of nine months was taken to prepare the 75-minute show.

The cast and crew involve people from 14 different countries with 120 musicians and about 300 dancers, acrobats, technical assistants and so on.

There will also be an acrobatic troupe from Henan, China.

“Every time an act is on, at least 30 people are backstage, assisting with props,” said Ng.

The biggest star of the show, however, is Tim Kole, the master illusionist from Las Vegas.

Commended by the famed David Copperfield himself, Kole started dabbling in the art of magical illusions when he was just seven and has performed in 30 countries worldwide.

This is his first such theatrical production, though, as “Mysteria” not only features magic acts but is also based on a drama.

“The production is easily one of the biggest I've ever been involved in,” he said.

“Mysteria” depicts the story of a runaway slave girl who escapes her masters after she brazenly speaks out against their cruel treatment. She then meets, falls in love, and becomes the apprentice of a travelling magician (Kole).

“Mysteria” will be open to the public daily from Jan 28 onwards.

Tickets are priced from RM50 to RM70 for adults and RM20 to RM30 for children.
