Two more Klang councillors get stop work order

KLANG: Two Klang Municipal Council members were ordered to stop work on the homes they were building by the council. They had both failed to submit the building plans for the construction of their houses.

The council told Mazlynoor Abdul Latif and Faizal Abdullah to suspend work on their respective houses in Kampung Raja Uda and directed them to submit the building plans for these properties.

President Abdul Bakir Zin said he was informed of their failure to submit the building plans after a probe was carried out following irregularities related to Klang Umno Division head Datuk Zakaria Md Deros’ controversial mansion.

”I was not aware that they were building the houses. Why should I bother about their plans to build houses? They are educated people. They should know the regulations,” Bakir said.

REMAINS SHUT: DZ Satay House restaurant built illegally on PWD land was ordered to close on Oct 26.
He said currently the council was checking to see whether other council members had not submitted building plans for properties they were constructing.

Bakir also said he was waiting for Zakaria to submit the building plan for his mansion in Kampung Idaman as well as his letter resigning from the council.

He said Zakaria had been given until Nov 15 to submit the plan, failing which he would face court action.

Zakaria had yet to contact him on his resignation from the council, he added. Zakaria had been appointed to the post and had accepted it on Oct 3.

“Once this matter is sorted out, MPK will go ahead with the oath-taking of the other 19 councillors, on Nov 9. Currently, there is one position vacant each for the MIC and MCA, and two for Umno.”

On Saturday, Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah advised Zakaria to withdraw from his council post and to mend his ways or risk being stripped of his Datukship.

Meanwhile, the DZ Satay House restaurant built illegally in Pandamaran on PWD land will remain closed.

Bakir said: “The restaurant is illegal as it has no approved building plan, no business permit and sits on government land without a Temporary Occupational Licence.”

The restaurant, which belongs to Zakaria, was sealed by the council on Oct 26. It is a stone’s throw from the mansion the controversial Port Klang assemblyman built on a 3,994sq metre (43,000sq feet) piece of land alienated to his wife Datin Zizah Ngah for RM46,000 following a discount.

In 1994, the land was offered at RM2 per sq foot.
