Floods: Body of 90-year-old woman recovered
KOTA TINGGI: A 90-year-old woman's body was found floating between furniture in her home after her family abandoned her when she refused to evacuate.
This brings the death toll from the floods to seven.
Police discovered Aw Kee Han's body in her home in Kg Tembiuh during a rescue operation on Friday morning.
Kota Tinggi deputy OCPD Dept Supt Muhammad Shamsudin said that the rest of the family had decided to leave the old woman behind on Dec 19 when she refused to follow them.
"We are trying to find out from the victims's daughter why she did not inform the authorities that her mother had been left behind," he said.
DSP Muhammad said that the victim's body had been sent to the Kota Tinggi district hospital for a post mortem and confirmed that the rest of Aw's family members had been safely evacuated.
