Christmas carnival to bring folks together

THE Emmanuel Anglican Church in Taman Minang Cheras, Kuala Lumpur welcomes the public to celebrate the spirit of Christmas at a fun-filled carnival scheduled at the Arena Alam Damai in Taman Alam Damai, Cheras on Dec 16.

The one-day programme from 9am to 10pm promises to be filled with fun activities, which include games, colouring competition, face painting, lucky draws and even helicopter rides at subsidised rates.

Children would also meet Santa Claus, A&W Bear, clowns and receive door gifts.

Organising chairman Daniel Vijayaruban Samuel said the aim of the “Christmas Carnival cum Gala Night” was to bring together families, especially in Cheras, regardless of race or religion, for a whole day of fun.

“There will be entertainment for everyone in the family,” said Samuel.

“There will be music, songs and cultural performances in Malay, English, Tamil and Chinese. There will also be a variety of food and drink stalls. We hope many people will be able to grace the occasion and make friends at this goodwill gathering.”

Parish priest Rev P. Samuel Jacob said they have carried out numerous community projects and activities in the neighbourhood since 1994.

He said the Christmas Carnival programme would be divided into two segments - the first is from 9am to 3pm and the second from 6.30pm to 10pm, which will feature a Christmas concert.

The organising committee also welcomes contributions from well-wishers to make this event a success.
