Datin missing since Chinese New Year eve

By MARC LOURDES

PETALING JAYA: It has been a terrible Chinese New Year for prominent businessman Datuk J.P. Tan and his family.

His wife of seven years, Datin Tan Bee Keow, disappeared on the night of Chinese New Year eve and has not been heard from since.

Tan: Had planned to visit some relatives and friends in Malacca.
A relative of the couple, who declined to be named, said Tan left her house at 11pm on Saturday, with the intention of visiting some relatives and friends in Malacca before returning home the next morning.

“She can't drive. So she was picked up by a friend,” he said, adding that the family did not know who the friend was, or even if the friend was a man or a woman.

They also did not get a chance to identify the friend's car.

“There was nothing wrong with her. She seemed perfectly normal,” he added.

Tan, who has a two-year-old son, was wearing a pair of blue jeans, a white T-shirt and brown shoes and was carrying only her wallet when she left the house in Jalan Dedap, Ampang Jaya.

Her husband, who is the chairman of local transport company Cacinjo Holidays Sdn Bhd, has lodged a report at the Ampang Jaya police headquarters.

MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Michael Chong said anybody with information of Tan's whereabouts could inform the nearest police station or get in touch with Tan's father Tan Tiong Hock at 012-3711628.
