The Government has decided to upgrade public health services. One of the efforts include the setting up of a Communicable Disease Centre in Sungai Buloh, Selangor to deal with outbreaks of newly emerging diseases.

A National Strategic Plan (NSP) for HIV/AIDS will also be implemented to reduce the number of HIV transmission cases in the country.

Keeping the specific target groups such as adolescents and older persons in mind, the Government will also provide mental health services for them to ensure their integration into society.

Other efforts include implementation of the water supply and environmental health programme and the establishment of a non-communicable diseases registry. The National Crisis (Health) Preparedness and Response Centre will also be set up to strengthen health-related crisis and disaster management.
