Enhancing Malaysia’s position as a global hub

THE Government will strengthen Malaysia’s worldwide position as a preferred destination for ICT (information and communications technology) investment and a market leader for ICT solutions.

This will go forward with the National IT Council (NITC) continuing as the main forum for developing ICT policy and strategy, coordinating initiatives and monitoring their implementation.

The NITC will prepare a National ICT Strategic Roadmap, setting out a framework for building vital new capabilities and tehcnologies in order to improve access and promote investment in ICT and knowledge-based industries.

The Government will also continually review the MSC Bill of Guarantees to keep its provisions and content attractive to local and foreign investors.

Among other things, the review process will include improving the Multimedia Super Corridor’s marketing and branding.

Phase Two of the Malaysia Research and Education Network (MyREN) will add private universities, government research institutions and private-sector laboratories to the network, which now links local public universities.

MyREN itself will also be linked to the International Research Network via the Trans-Eurasia Information Network 2.
