Driving test may have two examiners

KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport Ministry is considering having a second Road Transport Department (JPJ) examiner in the car during the driving test segment following an alleged molest incident in Segambut.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy said the ministry was also looking into the possibility of training more female JPJ examiners to test female candidates.

On Friday, an 18-year-old learner driver claimed that a male examiner held her hands and touched her shoulders and breasts during the on-the-road test at about 10.20am.

The examiner had allegedly told her that he was trying to help her pass her test.

The girl lodged a police report at the Kuala Lumpur Contingent headquarters on Sunday.

“I am glad that the girl came forward to report the incident. The matter will be brought up with JPJ director-general (Datuk Emran Kadir) in our weekly meeting tomorrow.

“We will also look into the current test system and come up with suggestions. I believe that there is still room for improvement,” Chan told reporters after meeting the girl and her father at Wisma MCA here yesterday.

Chan, who is MCA deputy president, said the examiner had been suspended pending police investigations.
