PM: Perlis weather ideal for greens, fruits
PERLIS should exploit its unique weather to grow more fruits and vegetables, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad said.
He said it had ideal weather compared to other states and Perlis should take advantage of that.
“I am happy that the state has taken the initiative to grow grapes at the Perdana plantation in Bukit Bintang.
“I hope the state will further develop the agriculture sector in a more modern and successful way,” he said when opening the RM20mil Dewan 2020 in Kangar recently.
On the new hall, Abdullah said it could be used by all to hold functions and activities.
“Under the 9th Malaysia Plan, we will develop all states, whether they are big or small,” he said.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the 40m-long and 80m-high hall in Kangar was handed over to the state by the Public Works Depart-ment in May last year.
“This hall is important for us,” he said.
Although Perlis was the smallest state in the country, the prime minister gave us equal importance, he said in his speech before the opening ceremony.
