“We hope these artworks will bring cheer and happiness to the children,'' said Siemens Malaysia Sdn Bhd president and chief executive officer Rainer Althoff who launched the exhibition.
At the bird park, the children had to create artworks using old newspaper, rags, beads and acrylic pieces to form collages.
“Besides colouring the Kingfisher, we enjoyed cutting the old clothes,” said 10-year-old Farhah Mohd Fadzli and nine-year-old Farhana Mohd Fadzli excitedly.
For orphan Steven Letchumanan, it was a memorable experience as he has always enjoyed drawing.
“I usually draw cars and aeroplanes but now I like drawing birds too,” said the nine-year-old who drew apiece titled “Show Time” together with Siemens Head of Corporate Business Development Strategies and Communications Aru Chellappan's family.
Sisters Farhah and Farhana together with Aru's daughter, Asha Muthu, recited poems about birds during the launch.
A flock of pigeons were also set free as a symbolic portrayal of freedom in line with the theme of the exhibition.
