Healthy food in store for walkers

By CLARA CHOOI

FAST food operator Chicken King has come up with an additional way of cooking its food.

At customers’ request, the chicken are grilled instead of being fried, so there is no need to add oil.

Chicken King (Perak) Sdn Bhd managing director Phan Yew Choong said the idea was to promote healthy fast food.

He said the outlet also prepared healthy steamed vegetables and toufu (soya bean curd) for the health-conscious diners.

“We also serve fresh fruit juices unlike other places which use cordials,” he said during a sponsorship presentation for Ipoh Starwalk to The Star’s advertisement representative Tan Cheak Tong.

The outlet contributed RM1,400 worth of cash vouchers, 8,000 Soccer Burger and 8,000 Terayaki Chicken Chop discount vouchers worth RM1.50 each for all participants of the walk.

Phan said that the top three winners for all nine categories of the walk would each receive RM50, RM150 and RM200 vouchers , respectively.

“With the vouchers, the winners can go to any Chicken King outlets and order as much food as they want within the budget of their prize,” he said.

Ipoh Starwalk 2006, organised in co-operation with the Ipoh City Council and the Perak Amateur Athletics Association, will be flagged off at 7am on July 9 at Dataran Ipoh.

It will include a 10km competition event and a 7km fun walk.

Lucky participants also stand to win prizes.
