Haze clears across the country
PETALING JAYA: The haze has cleared significantly across the country, with improved air quality and higher visibility.
Generally, visibility has improved in all areas, at more than 10km, Meteorological Services Department deputy director of operations Leong Chow Peng said yesterday.
She said at 5pm visibility in Prai and Butterworth in Penang, which was at 3km on Wednesday, improved to more than 10km.
But Sitiawan, which recorded visibility of 2km on Wednesday, recorded visibility of slightly less than 10km.
Areas with healthy air increased to 24 yesterday from 13 on Wednesday while those with moderate Air Pollutant Index (API) readings decreased to 26 yesterday from 35 the previous day.
On the hazy situation in the city yesterday, she said: The low visibility is only temporary because of the rain which caused higher humidity and condensation of dust particles.
