Men abused by wives, too

WIVES are deemed to be unjust and abusive if they cannot satisfy their husbands' sexual needs, Kelantan deputy mufti Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad told Berita Harian.

He explained that in a marriage, it was not always the wives who were abused as it could also happen to the husbands.

“Islamic laws does not only protect the women but also the men,” he said.

“Thus wives who do not provide proper care for their husbands, including not fulfilling their sexual needs, can be considered as being unjust and abusive towards their husbands.

“These women can be charged under Section 128 (1) of the Kelantan Islamic Law Enactment 2002, which provides for a fine of RM1,000 or jail of up to six months or both upon conviction.

“However, to date, no husband has ever complained that his wife has failed to sexually satisfy him, although he has the right to do so.”

Mohamad Shukri said the section also provided for a penalty for husbands who have been unjust or abusive towards their wives, including those who left their spouses without informing them.

Harian Metro reported on the growing trend among local women artistes taking designer drugs.

Some of the artistes spent a small fortune on the drugs, particularly ice or syabu, supposedly to help them lose weight or stay slim.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Department chief Datuk Mohd Najib Abdul Aziz said the use of stimulants among artistes was well known as quite a number had been arrested.

Meanwhile, while all attention was being focused on the wedding preparations of Siti Nurhaliza and Datuk K, a sensational actress, Aleeza Kassim, quietly married corporate figure Mohd Fauzy Che Ros.

Aleeza, better known as Leez, who starred in Panas, married the 42-year-old director of a large conglomerate last week.

They are expected to have a grand wedding reception at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 10.
