HANOI: Malaysia and Vietnam have agreed to work together to develop their tourism industries.
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said his Vietnamese counterparts had asked for the ministry's assistance to train personnel in the administration and promotion aspects of the industry.

Earlier, he paid a courtesy call on Vietnam Administration of Tourism chairman Vo Thi Thang and The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations president Vu Xuan Hong.
Last year, 80,000 Malaysians visited Vietnam while the number of Vietnamese tourists to Malaysia was 54,000, a 25% increase from 2004, he said.
“This year, we hope to receive 100,000 Vietnamese,” he said.
He said the ministry was also looking into the possibility of working with Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore.
He said 80% of tourist arrivals were from Asean.
Tengku Adnan said he was confident that the country could achieve its target of 20.1 million tourist arrivals next year.
