Mawi’s mission unaccomplished
BY TEH ENG HOCK AND FARIK ZOLKEPLI
KOTA TINGGI: Talk of their break-up has been making the headlines but when Mawi finally sends his delegation to call off the engagement officially, his fiancée and her family were not at home.
Mawi, whose real name is Asmawi Ani, said the delegation, comprising his elder sister Rashidah and other family members, went to Noordiana Mohd Naim's home yesterday afternoon.

CLEARING THE AIR: Mawi confirming to the press that he had sent a delegation to Ina’s house to call off their engagement but no one was at home Saturday. |
According to Mawi, his delegation was at the house of Noordiana, better known as Ina, at around 4pm.
Meanwhile, a check by The Star earlier at around 3pm at the house in Felcra Sungai Ara, about 80km away, showed that it was locked up.
Neighbours said the whole family had left for Kuala Lumpur on Friday evening so that Ina, 22, could get a break from the hype surrounding her break-up with the 25-year-old pop sensation.
Ariffin Kusum, 49, a family friend who had headed Noordiana’s delegation to receive Mawi's when the couple got engaged, said he hoped they would reconcile their differences.
“But at the end of the day, whether they break up or get back together, I just want Ina to be happy,” he said.
“Ina has never told us her story. I haven't asked her. It is her private life and I respect that,” he added.
Ariffin said he had spoken to Ina’s father, who was keen for the whole episode to end so that his daughter could get on with her life.
