Students to protest war on Lebanon
KUALA LUMPUR: Students in public institutions of higher learning throughout the country will take part in a peace march in their respective campuses today to protest Israel's attacks in Lebanon.
Universiti Malaya student council president Mohd Effendi Omar, 23, speaking on behalf of all student councils from the country's 18 public higher learning institutions, said the peace march would begin simultaneously at 10am.
“We estimate about 3,000 students will take part in the march in UM, and we have obtained permission from the vice-chancellor for the march,” he said.

The wristbands are embossed with the slogan “Stop Israel! Leave Lebanon! Free Palestine!”
Mohd Effendi said the students would wear the wristbands during the peace march.
He also said their activity was not against the Universities and Colleges Act 1971.
Umno Youth secretary Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said they would distribute some 10,000 orange wristbands throughout the country.
