Number of flood victims double
JOHOR BARU: The number of flood victims in the state has more than doubled since yesterday to 50,172 who have been placed in 208 relief centres all over the state.
Most of the victims are from Johor Baru with 19,415 victims in 39 centres followed by Kluang with 13,372 victims, Batu Pahat (7,222), Segamat (2,494),Kota Tinggi (5,657), Pontian (1,299), Muar (553) and Mersing (160).
A total of eight roads also remained closed to traffic with three in Johor Baru and two each in Kota Tinggi and Kluang and one in Segamat.
Train service from Singapore to the North has also been disrupted in Simpang Renggam due to the floods and passengers who are affected are being transported in buses.
A massive road cave-in at Felda Ulu Penggli along km57 Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang at about 8am today has resulted in Bandar Tenggara being completely cut off from Kluang.
