Mahathir: Sorry, no open house

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali apologised for being unable to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri with all Malaysians.

“This year I will not be able to celebrate Aidilfitri together with everyone by having an open house as usual.

“But I would like to wish all Malaysians Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” Dr Mahathir said in a statement to the press yesterday.

He also apologised for not being able to receive any visitor at the National Heart Institute (IJN) “on doctors’ orders.”

“My wife and I would like to also thank all who have prayed for my speedy recovery, and those who have conducted hajat prayers for my health.

“I am recovering, thanks to the prayers and efforts of the doctors and the medical staff at IJN, who have worked tirelessly throughout Ramadan. We will never be able to repay all your efforts, but we will always pray that all of you will be blessed by Allah,” he said.

“Once again, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir Batin.”
