Harassed for telephone sex

JOHOR BARU: A 14-year-old girl has been harassed for more than a year by a stranger asking her for telephone sex.

She ignored his daily calls and SMSes but in June, the man threatened to kill her and her family.

“It's not just my cellphone. He also calls my house phone and my mother’s phone now. Even my four friends and their mothers have received the same messages.

“He uses vulgar words and says he wants to kill us,” the girl said.

Her mother, a housewife, who could no longer bear the harassment, has sought help from Pasir Gudang MCA’s Crime Prevention Squad chief Lim Thow Siang.

At a press conference yesterday, the girl said her ordeal began after she responded to an SMS sent by the stranger in February last year.

“I do not know him, he just called up and we talked for some time.

“Then, we kept in touch but never met,” she said, adding that she stopped responding to him after he invited her for telephone sex.

But the man kept on sending her SMSes.

Her nightmare began five months later, around July last year, after she refused to be his girlfriend.

The girl and her mother changed their cellphone and house numbers yesterday. They also made a report at the Permas Jaya police station on Oct 3.

It is learnt that police have traced the man's number to an address, but could not locate him there.

The girl's mother appealed to the man to not disturb the family, especially her daughter.
