Subjects made simpler at workshop

PETALING JAYA: Jacqueline Johnathan from Malacca found it much simpler to understand maths after attending The Star’s Education Pre-SPM Workshop 2007 on Physics and Additional Mathematics at Segi College in Kota Damansara yesterday.

She found that the way of learning at the workshop was much simpler compared to the one she was taught at school or tuition class.

The Form Four student of SMK Infant Jesus Convent in Malacca was happy that she had learnt a lot from the workshop.

“I will recommend my friends and relatives join the workshop,” she said.

A total of 220 Form Four students signed up for the two-day workshop which began yesterday.

Student Ng Kian Guan of Sri Kuala Lumpur School in Subang Jaya said the method of learning the two subjects was interesting and found the workshop useful.

“It was really an eye-opener for me ,” he said adding that in the workshop he discovered new methods and ideas on how to improve his way of learning.

“I now have confidence to do better in my SPM next year.”

A parent who wished to be identified only as Ms Siow of Cheras said her son, Siow Lee Meng, was weak in the two subjects.

“I hope he would be able to pick up some pointers to do better in the subjects after attending this workshop,” she said.

The tutor Sunny Yee, who is also a columnist for The Star, said the feedback he received from those who attended his previous workshops was quite encouraging. He said he had received a lot of e-mails and calls from people who commended him for making it easier for students to understand the two subjects.
