IPOH: A bus went up in flames and at least four cars were smashed in an accident near the Lembah Beringin exit of the North-South Expressway yesterday.
The 5pm accident was believed to have occurred after the bus driver, who was ferrying 35 passengers, tried to avoid a police car that had collided with another vehicle.
The accident was so bad that a car ended up completely wedged under the bus at Km403 of the north-bound lane of the highway.

Close call: A tow-truck pulling out a car which was stuck under the bus which was ferrying 35 passengers from Kuala Lumpur to Kedah yesterday. |
Amazingly, no one died in the accident, said an officer from the Perak Fire and Rescue Department.
Bus driver Jabar Md Isa, 33, said he was ferrying the passengers back to Kedah from an excursion in Kuala Lumpur when the accident happened.
I saw a police car that had apparently hit another vehicle in front of it. I tried to avoid hitting it but ended up crashing into the divider.
I was in a state of shock. I hit the emergency brakes and the next thing I knew, everyone was getting out and the bus soon went up in flames, he added.
Some of the victims sought treatment at the Slim River Hospital.
