Regional and local celebrities turned up to lend their support to the eight selected Malaysian charities in an event which was mentioned as a cross between Live-Aid and the traditional Battle of the Bands.
MTV VJ Denise, Hannah Tan, local blogger Kenny Sia and NTV7 personalities like Christien & Lavin were some of the celebrities who judges and blended in with the youthful crowd.
The proceeds were distributed to eight charity organisations – MAKNA, Malaysian Association of the Blind, WWF Malaysia, Myanmar Refugees Program, Generating Opportunities for Learning Disables, Faith & Light, My Father's Home and Good Samaritan Home.
BOBAsia chairman Jason Ko said that he advised bands to change the world, one song at a time.
“It was a truly life-changing event for both the finalist bands and charities,'' he said.
The title sponsor was Mister Potato and main sponsor was Nokia. The Battle of the Bands was organised by people behind the free website www.BOBAsia.org
