Najib: Don’t fall for opposition’s ploy

IJOK: The people here have been told not to fall for the opposition's ploy and give the seat to the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) in Saturday's by-election.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the people would miss out on a lot of development between now and the next general election should they vote the opposition.

He reminded the people that only the Barisan Nasional had the capability to carry out development.

He said the PKR had won seats before but the candidates were unable to carry out any meaningful development as they lacked the backing.

“But (Barisan candidate) K.R. Parthiban is strong because he has the entire Barisan Nasional behind him and he can bring the much needed changes here,” he told about 1,000 Taman Pancaran residents here yesterday.

He said claims by PKR candidate Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim that he was a development expert held no meaning as he did not have the financial capability to develop the area.

Najib also announced a RM200,000 allocation to build an Islamic centre in Taman Pancaran.

One with the people: Najib being greeted by residents at Taman Pancaran in Batang Berjuntai on Monday night.
He said funds were being set aside to carry out development projects and also to help the poor.

Earlier yesterday, Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo called on the police to arrest anyone creating trouble during the campaign, regardless of their party affiliation.

Dr Khir said he would not stand for any violence in the state and asked everyone to abide by the law.
