Two youths claim trial to raping 15-year-old girl
SHAH ALAM: Two youths claimed trial in separate Sessions Courts here to raping a 15-year-old girl on March 28.
Accessories shop worker Mohamad Shahmi Abd Halim, 20, and production operator Zul Husni Mohd Rais, 19, were accused of committing the offence in a house in Bukit Beruntung, Hulu Selangor, between 2am and 3am.
They each face a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Hana Hadinah S. Mohd Ghazali told Judge Azimah Omar that Mohamad Shahmi should not be allowed bail because this was a serious offence.
“It is a gang rape on an underage girl,” Han Hadinah told the court.
She also said that the victim had just befriended the accused.
The judge allowed bail at RM5,000 and for the accused to report to the nearest police station on the first Saturday of each month.
At another Sessions Court, DPP Azmeer Mohd Sardi said Zul Hasni was likely to disturb the victim if he was allowed bail.
“The accused knows the victim although they are staying very far apart from each other,” he said.
Judge Datin Zabariah Mohd Yusof set bail at RM5,000 with one surety.
She also ordered Zul Husni to surrender his passport as well as to report to the nearest police every month.
