Put technology to good use, youths told
MALACCA: Youths should exploit technological advances to keep abreast of changes, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Dr Fong Chan Onn said.
He likened youths and technology to “fish and water”, saying both elements were inseparable.
“If they put their expertise to good use, the whole world could become our backyard,” he said when launching the United Youth Movement of Malaysia’s (GBBM) 31st annual general meeting here yesterday.
Fong, who is the Malacca MCA chairman and Alor Gajah MP, said due to the importance played by youths in nation-building, youth leaders must understand the needs of society.
Fong later handed RM2,500 to the movement’s branches in each state and also presented a RM5,000 allocation from the ministry.
He also launched the “Malacca MCA Youth Love Malaysia” flag-raising campaign held in conjunction with the coming Merdeka celebrations.
