Opinion poll on Chinese support ‘is just a study’
KUALA LUMPUR: An opinion poll which revealed that only 54% of the Chinese community supported the present Government is just a study and only elections will show whether the people support or reject it.
Umno Youth chief Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the Youth movement took note of the poll and viewed public perception seriously, but he was confident the people would continue to vote for Barisan Nasional.
A study is still a study and it depends on what they are studying.
The important thing now is for all Barisan leaders to prove to everyone, without being apologetic, that Barisans programmes are for everyone and we have been and will continue to deliver our promises, he added.
According to the June poll by the opinion research firm Merdeka Center, 54% of the Chinese supported the present administration led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, while the figure was 86% for Malays and 71% for Indians.
Hishammuddin said Barisans promises were being delivered under the Ninth Malaysia Plan.
