Zam laments ‘critique’ by DAP on crime

SUNGAI PETANI: The Information Ministry is disappointed with the DAP’s statement that the police are not doing their job in preventing and solving rape and other crimes.

Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin said the DAP “has done nothing but criticise the Government and the police.”

“Has the DAP ever made any effort to work with the police to fight crime like what the MCA is doing?” he asked.

He was speaking to reporters after presenting Ramadan aid to handicapped children at the Social Welfare Department office here yesterday.

Zainuddin also lauded the MCA’s Public Complaints Bureau, which channels grouses and crime activities to the police.

“The MCA is also working closely with the police to help solve crime cases.

“This is a good example of a responsible political party which is pro-Government and pro-Malaysian,” he added.

He said the police generally were very effective in fighting crime and had solved cases promptly even by standards set by Interpol.

In his speech, Zainuddin said more Ramadan aid was given to the underprivileged this year to help more disabled children, adults, single mothers and to fund religious activities.

Zainuddin, who is Merbok MP, presented RM50 each to 276 handicapped children and RM100 each to 250 single mothers.
